The MTLx532 ***lates pulses from a switch, proximity detector, current pulse transmitter or voltage pulse transmitter located in a hazardous area. It is ideal for applications involving high pulse rates and fast response times, by repeating the pulses into the safe area. An analogue output proportional to frequency is also provided, together with a relay output, which may be configured to act as an alarm. Configuration is carried out with a personal computer.

The MTLx549 accepts 4/20mA floating signals from safe-area controllers to drive 2 current/pressure converters (or any other load up to 800Ω) in a hazardous area. For HART valve positioners, the module also permits bi-directional transmission of digital communication signals. Process controllers with a readback facility can detect open or short circuits in the field wiring: if these occur, the current taken into the terminals drops to a preset level.

Known for its quality and reliability, the MTL7700 range of intriniscally safe passive network devices use Zener diodes, resistors and fuses to safely divert excess electrical energy to ground and prevent sparking or overheating of equipment in hazardous areas. Helping to ensure a safe work environment and protects those nearby from explosion risks.
As a DIN rail mounting barrier, the MTL7700 provides quick and easy installation without the need for special hardware. Removable terminals are used for ease of installation, maintenance and for providing a loop disconnect by simply unplugging the terminals from the side of the module. Wire entry is also angled to assist wiring within limited space enclosures.
MTL7700 barriers clamp simply and securely onto standard T-section DIN rail, simultaneously making a reliable IS earth connection.
For applications where field power is required for switch inputs or 2-wire transmitters, the MTL7700 range provides a bussed power feed facility. When used in conjunction with the MTL7798 power feed module the user has a fully protected, electronically fused supply to many barriers with no additional wiring required.

The Crouse-Hinds series MTL TP48 surge protection device safeguards field-mounted process transmitters where it matters, right at the unit. After a simple installation (the TP48 screws into an unused conduit entry, with no additional modification), it provides high-level protection against surges and transients while normal operation remains unaffected.
The TP48 resets itself automatically after each operation. The device is available with screw threads to suit different transmitters, with explosion-proof and intrinsically safe options for hazardous areas. Working voltage is 48V dc maximum with impulse ratings of 10kA peak current and 10kV peak voltage.
Approvals for intrinsically safe, flameproof, explosion-proof and non-incendive operation are available, in all gas groups and apparatus temperature classifications up to T6. For Functional Safety applications TP24/7 surge protection devices can be considered as wiring components that pass the process signals without alteration. Information is provided in the Functional Safety manual to assist in the selection and application of MTL surge protection devices for instrumentation signals that are being used to provide functional safety according to the latest IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 standards.
