Soft starter can be set as soft start, soft stop, current limiting start and intelligent braking. Soft starter is especially suitable for the start and stop control of large capacity motor. It is an intelligent product. Soft start and soft stop of motor is a new starting mode. Soft start means that the input voltage of the motor starts from 0V and increases gradually according to the preset mode until the end of full voltage. The soft stop of the motor is that the motor starts from the rated speed and decelerates gradually according to the preset way until it stops. Soft start and soft stop depend on the power supply connected in series
The soft starter is used to control the conduction angle of the thyristor in the soft starter, so as to control its output voltage or current, so as to effectively control the start and stop of the motor. The connection of Rockwell&＃39;s smcplus soft starter standard unit in the main circuit is shown in Figure 1. In the figure, the normally open contacts of the parallel contactor kmnl (n = 1,2,3,4, the same below) are at the input and output ends of the soft starter, and the normally open contacts of the series contactor km and the contactor kmn2 are at the input and output ends of the soft starter. When soft starting, contact km and contact kmn2 are closed, contact kmn1 is open, and starting current flows to motor through soft starter. After the soft start, the contact kmn1 is closed, the contact km and the contact kmn2 are disconnected, the soft starter does not work, and the working current is sent to the motor through kmn1. When soft stop occurs, contact km and contact kmn2 are closed, and contact kmn1 is opened to realize soft stop until the motor stops running, and then contact km and contact kmn2 are opened. This method greatly improves the service life of the soft starter and avoids the high-order harmonic generated by the soft starter when the motor is running. Because when the contactor is on or off, the voltage at both ends of the contact is basically zero, which also improves the service life of the contactor.
