DCS控制系统是工厂的核心装置，相当于工厂的眼睛和大脑，在生产和管理上是为核心的系统。炼焦车间的焦炉加热控制部分、净化车间的全部生产工艺和供排水车间的全部生产工艺均由DCS系统控制。其中，作为焦化厂的心脏——鼓风机也在这套系统中，并且两台互备的鼓风机的所有控制在一个控制器中。这样的系统设计存在一些安全隐患。首先，该系统运行已有五年多的时间，在此过程中，随着生产工艺的技术改造，新增了大量控制点，造成了系统软硬件容量的增加，其中部分控制点已经超过了当前的设计用量，这将大大降低系统的运行效率，而且当前的系统软硬件容量已经无法满足进一步扩充的需要，没有空余的卡件来接入新的设备，增加系统软硬件规模成了当务之急。由于两台鼓风机的控制点混和在一起，并且有的控制点接在同一个卡件上，这样当检修备车鼓风机时，可能会对运行鼓风机造成干扰，使运行鼓风机停车，影响生产。机柜中由于接线太多，无法全部放入线槽中，复杂庞大的线路混杂暴露在外，对巡检、维修和操作带来了危险因素。系统工程师对DCS控制柜中的全部控制点进行了详细的统计并核对，统计了所有不用的控制点但仍在系统中有组态的部分，对其进行备份记录后，从控制系统中删除了这些不用的点。以上优化为以后的改造和新增设备创造了条件，并提高了系统运行的可靠性。同时，在优化过程中，我们对控制器进行了整体下装，***了控制器的热备冗余功能正常，提高系统可靠性。
