The Right-Angle Ribbon Thermocouple features thermal elements which consist of thin thermocouple alloy ribbons welded together at the sensing tip. These ribbon elements are brought out from opposing sides of the probe along the interface of a high temperature thermally isolating rod and cone assembly. The ribbons in the vicinity of the thermal junction are parallel to the plane of heat source. Thus, both the thermal junction and the ribbons are heated simultaneously and conduction errors are minimized.
The ribbon elements, due to their mass to surface-area relationship; provide fast response times to equilibrium temperatures since the maximum surface contact area is offered to the heat source.
Response times of 6 to 24 milliseconds in boiling water tests.
Pressure ranges to 10,000 psi, temperature ranges to 1,680 degrees centigrade.
Probe materials may be metal, plastic, or ceramic.
Mountings may be adjustable compression fittings on fixed mountings.
Standard probe comes with a two-prong standard plug connector attached. Mating jack connector with cable clamp is furnished with each unit.
Thermocouple junction has no conduction errors.
All standard thermocouple calibrations and connectors available.
The surface mounted unit contains the Right-Angle Ribbon thermocouple on the end of the threaded thermowell. The thermowell is stainless steel with straight threads (7/16 NF-20 by 13/32 inches long). It also contains an O-ring seal (good to 450 degrees Fahrenheit). At higher temperatures, the O-ring must be removed and replaced by a copper washer. This fluid mounted unit is ideal for applications requiring gas or liquid temperatures at the inner surface of a container wall.
