The control process of starting and stopping can be completed by the sequence control of PLC, and it can start many motors with one soft starter. Engineering application of one soft starter to start multiple motors.
Figure 1 is the circuit diagram of starting 4 fans with a soft starter. Each fan is 45KW, and the control requirements are as follows:
1.Each fan should have two options, manual and automatic, which are set manually by switch.
2. In manual or automatic mode, the fan is started by soft starter.
3. The fan is two in use and two for standby, which can be automatically identified in the control program.
4.In the automatic operation, if the air volume of the two fans is not enough, the standby fan should be able to start manually and put into operation, and its main circuit is shown in Figure 1. The soft starter in the figure is set to soft start mode. If the fan is selected as automatic state, the starting sequence is as follows: km close → km12 close → soft start contact close (soft start start start) → km11 close → km12 open → soft start contact open → km open (# 1 fan start completed) → km close → km22 close → soft start contact close → km21 close → soft start contact open → km open (# 2 fan start completed). According to the requirements, the fans of # 3 and # 4 are started manually. When the manual start button is pressed, the above starting process should also be included. The soft start process is controlled by PLC, and the ladder diagram of soft start process control is shown in Figure 2.
M5 ~ M8 in the figure are the starting status of # 1 ~ # 4 fans in the process of automatic cycle: when M30 is in manual starting status, the combination results of starting buttons of 4 fans are shown; When M2 is valid, it enters the soft start process. Open the air valve at M80, M20 is km closed, M21 is kmn2 closed, M22 is soft start contact closed, m23kmn1 closed, M24 is kmn2 open, M25 is km open. Each state transition is completed by the time and the internal auxiliary contact of the soft starter, and its duration is determined by the time parameters of the internal timer T0 ~ T4. In the above process, n = 1, 2, 3, 4. As for which fan to start, it is decided by the identification control logic in fan selection module and combined output module. This method can also realize the soft stop of multiple motors by one soft starter. Because there is only one soft starter, when any fan starts, the rest of the starting requirements are rejected. Therefore, in the process of automatic cycle, the soft start of different motors should be set at different time periods. In the manual control, the soft start of different motors is determined by the identification control logic in the manual start module, as shown in Figure 3, and the relevant input point allocation is shown in the attached table.
