The safety-related F2 DO 16 02 remote I/O is a compact system located in a metal
enclosure with 16 safety-related relay outputs.
The remote I/O is available in a model variant for SILworX and a model variant for ELOP II
Factory. All variants are described in this manual.
The remote I/O serves as extension of the I/O level of HIMax and HIMatrix controllers, and
is connected to them via safeethernet. The remote I/O itself is not able to run a user
program.The HIMatrix remote I/Os are not multi-master capable.
The remote I/O is suitable for mounting in Ex-zone 2, see Chapter 4.1.2.
The device has been certified by the TÜV for safety-related applications up to SIL 3
(IEC 61508, IEC 61511 and IEC 62061), Cat. 4 (EN 954-1) and PL e (EN *** 13849-1).
Further safety standards, application standards and test standards are specified in the
certificate available on the HIMA website.

The remote I/O is equipped with safety-related relay outputs. These outputs are safely assigned their values by the connected controller via safeethernet. 3.1.1 Safety-Related Digital Outputs The remote I/O is equipped with 16 safety-related relay outputs. The state of each relay output is signaled by an LED. Each relay output is equipped with two safety relays with forcibly guided contacts and a standard relay. An internal fuse is used to limit the output contacts' switching current to 60 % (3.15 A) of the maximum permissible value (in accordance with VDE 0116, EN 298). The contact outputs can be used for safety shutdowns. To connect direct-current voltages, an additional external fuse adjusted to the maximum permissible current must be used within the contact circuit. The output contacts are connected in pairs via terminal plugs with numbered terminals. The pins on the remote I/O front plate have same numbering sequence to prevent the user from using the wrong terminals. The terminal connections comply with IP20 protection requirements. With higher requirements, the remote I/O must be mounted in an enclosure with suitable type of protection. The air and creeping distances are designed in accordance with IEC 61131-2 for overvoltage class II up to 300 V. If voltages other than SELV and PELV are connected, suitable cables with double or increased insulation must be used, e.g., power lineIf the device detects a faulty signal on a digital output, the affected module output is set to the safe (de-energized) state using the safety switches. If a fault in the device occurs, all digital outputs are switched off. In both cases, the devices activates the FAULT LED. The error code allows the user to configure additional fault reactions in the user program.
